It is <strong>compatible with any LMS<\/strong>, allows for traceability, and facilitates learning measurement. And yet, many SCORM courses fall short.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The problem isn&#8217;t with the technology, but with how the content is structured. When a SCORM is designed as a long \u201cdigitized\u201d PDF, abandonment is almost inevitable. <\/p>\n\n<p>The good news is that <strong>there is no need to reinvent SCORM<\/strong>, but rather to use it well.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_is_so_much_SCORM_content_abandoned\"><\/span><strong>Why is so much SCORM content abandoned?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Before discussing solutions, it is important to be aware of the most common mistakes:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Content too long and dense.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lack of clear objectives from the outset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linear structures that do not respect the user&#8217;s rhythm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excessive text and little real interaction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poorly designed or irrelevant assessments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>When a student does not understand what they are going to learn, how long it will take, or why it is useful, they give up. It&#8217;s that simple. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Start_with_the_objective_not_the_content\"><\/span><strong>Start with the objective, not the content<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Effective SCORM content does <strong>not begin with \u201cwhat do I need to explain&#8221;<\/strong>, but rather with:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What should the user know or do when finished?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How does this impact your work?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What behavior do I want to change or reinforce?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Clearly defining the objective allows you to eliminate unnecessary content and focus on the essentials.
