What is uniMoodle?
Within the European NextGeneration funds framework and the UNIDIGITAL programme, several universities in Spain have created the inter-university group uniMoodle to develop new tools to improve Moodle-based virtual campuses. This collaborative effort aims to improve the quality and functionality of online educational environments through innovative and highly functional projects.
uniMoodle goals
- Open Source: Ensure that all tools developed are open source.
- General usability: Create solutions that are useful for a wide range of users and use cases.
- Simple architecture: Design an architecture that is easy to understand and maintain.
- Flexible: Ensure that tools are adaptable to different contexts and needs.
- Easy to use: Provide intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
- Integrable: Ease the integration of new tools with other existing platforms and systems.
In this blog post we are going to present Kuet and Course Transfer, two of the nine projects born out of this initiative and developed entirely by 3ipunt for all Spanish universities using Moodle.
Kuet: interactive quizzes in Moodle
Kuet allows you to create interactive quizzes for a variety of purposes and audiences, using the power and flexibility of Moodle. The aim is to have an activity in Moodle that allows you to organise attractive interactive polls, quick answers, and competitions, etc.
What are the benefits of Kuet?
- Different ways to use it for your sessions:
- Controls session progress manually or automatically
- Approach the session as a race or podium to motivate users.
- Schedule sessions for specific dates.
- You can attend individually or in groups
- You can create impromptu questions with polling
- It has a simple, intuitive interface that supports mobile devices.
- Detailed activity reports for each session: answers, notes, etc.
- Available in Spanish, Galician, Basque, Catalan and English.
The module is available to the entire Moodle community.
Course Transfer: move courses between platforms
This plugin allows administrators and teachers to move courses, resources, and course activities between platforms in an agile way, without advanced knowledge, all over the web, and without leaving their platform.
How can Course Transfer help you?
- At the beginning of the course, you will need to recreate the content of a subject if you want to retrieve the course structure, activities or resources from another platform, e.g. from the previous academic year.
- You are a platform administrator and need to automate the course transfer processes at the beginning of the academic year in a massive and controlled way.
- You are a teacher and you want to import a section or an activity from another course, either on a different platform or on the same platform. In this case, Course Transfer offers you a simple interface to meet your needs.
- It allows administrators to automate backups, restores and deletions in the background from the command line, and to schedule them at specific times so that they do not affect users.
The module is available to the entire Moodle community.
Both 3ipunt and the other members of the UniMoodle working group have managed budgets to create new projects for e-learning platforms around the world, thanks to public funding from UNIDIGITAL, NextGenerationEU’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
With the help of UniMoodle, it is expected that the educational experience on virtual campuses will be significantly improved, promoting a more interactive, accessible and efficient education.
