MoodleMoot Global 2024 was an unforgettable event that brought together educators, developers and education leaders from around the world in the vibrant city of Mérida, Mexico. From 22-24 October, attendees had the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in the Moodle platform and discuss how artificial intelligence is redefining learning.
Day 1: Redefining learning with AI
The first day focused on ‘Redefining learning through AI innovation‘. Education and technology experts shared their experiences on how artificial intelligence can improve the personalisation of learning and promote inclusion. Interactive sessions were held to stimulate discussion about the future of education and Moodle’s role in it.
Day 2: The Moodle community in action
The second day was a celebration of the Moodle community. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops and panel discussions that highlighted success stories of Moodle implementation in different institutions. Inspiring stories were shared of how Moodle tools are helping to improve teaching and learning in different environments. The interaction between attendees fostered a collaborative and enriching environment.
Day 3: Future vision and sustainability
The final day focused on Moodle’s long-term vision and commitment to sustainability. Moodle executives discussed upcoming updates and improvements to the platform, with a focus on the need for educational tools to be accessible and sustainable. There was also a panel discussion on the importance of creating inclusive learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

3ipunt and its experience at MoodleMoot Global 2024
This year we are once again offering our experience with Moodle with a presentation on the Moodle Workplace platform of Unió Consorci Formació. A centralised platform that serves a cohort of 120,000 professionals and facilitates the delivery of training in the medical sector. The presentation aims to show the process of creating a perfectly integrated platform, in tune with external systems and capable of accommodating a staggering 1,000 new users per week and 50,000 per year.
Cristiano spoke about the UNIMOODLE collaborative project, an initiative that brings together 16 Spanish universities to develop 9 plug-ins that will enhance the digitalisation of virtual campuses based on Moodle. This collaboration aims to share needs, experiences and solutions, providing a unique opportunity for those who want to be at the forefront of educational innovation.
Conclusions and thoughts
MoodleMoot Global 2024 reaffirmed Moodle’s central role in modern education. The combination of technological innovation and a strong focus on community enabled attendees to leave inspired and motivated to implement new ideas in their educational practice.
